PDN is a non-profit organization, run by a volunteer board of directors.
We are currently looking for volunteers to join the board. Please consider joining! Joining PDN's board fulfills a family's parent participation requirement, and allows you to perform an important service the school.

Scott Spence

I am currently the Accounting Manager at Recology Inc. – a company whose vision is a “world without waste” which is dedicated to building exceptional resource ecosystems that protect the environment and sustain our communities. I have served on the PDN board for more than 3 years and have previously served as Treasurer and am currently sitting as the acting President. My wife, Kim, is a school teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District and is currently teaching the 5th grade. Our daughter, Hailey, is currently in the Bear room and has been attending PDN since she was 5 months old. Our family lives in the NE Altadena area and have been overjoyed with the nurturing community that PDN has provided to our child.

Jonah Kanner

I am a research scientist with an astrophysics group at Caltech. I have served on the PDN board for over two years and am currently the board secretary. My wife, Erin, teaches French and Spanish in the La Canada Unified School District. We have been thrilled to see our son, Jacob, grow and thrive in the rich environment provided at PDN. Our family moved to Pasadena in 2013 from a suburb of Washington, DC.

I am the Client Technology Manager for an aerospace company. Before joining the PDN board, I helped start and served on the board for a youth mentoring/earn-a-bike program in Indianapolis IN. I am the proud dad of Graeme (PDN graduate who is excelling in the Pasadena Public School system) and Maelin (a current Bear that has been with PDN for 2 years). My wife and I have been in Pasadena for just over two years and moved here for her position at the Huntington Library as the inaugural senior painting conservator.

Branwyn Pierpoint

I am a social worker, homeless rights activist, and Assistant Director of Social Services at the Pasadena Senior Center. My husband, Austin, is a graphic designer and the Art Director at Hammer Creative. We moved to the Washington Square neighborhood of Pasadena in 2015, and I joined the PDN board at the beginning of 2016. Our son, Cary, has grown from Caterpillar to Bear at PDN, and we couldn’t be more pleased with this wonderful learning environment and caring community of staff and families.

Daphne Tseng

Daphne is Olivia's mom from Lion Room. She graduated from University of California, Irvine in Biological Sciences specialized in Ecology and a minor degree in Public Health. She also earned her master in Environmental Occupational Health Sciences, specialized in Industrial Hygiene from the California State University, Northridge. She has worked in various industries, such as State Government, Aerospace, and Pharmaceutical companies. Currently, she works for a medical device company as the Quality System Supervisor. She is married to Kent who works as the Key Account Manager for an online retail company. In addition to Olivia, she also has a baby boy named Liam. In her spare time, she loves to bake.

Jose Escobar

Alfredo Rodriguez

A jack of all trades, Alfredo is a creative director, senior designer, print production artist and digital production manager. A graduate of The Art Institute of California in Los Angeles, he began his career in the print industry and learned his way through the industry before he landed in marketing, where he expanded his artistic capabilities into digital platforms, such as full website concepts, mobile applications, online advertising, and e-blasts. His eye for design makes him an invaluable asset to any online facet of a program: he speaks code to programmers and art to designers to bring the client a seamless product that marries both worlds... His partner Toni is a Massage Therapist at her family owned Spa here in Pasadena (Cote d' Azur). Their son Aiden has attended PDN since he was 3 years old, and loves every of minute of it!

Carlène Rakotonjanahary

Carlene is Louisa’s mom from the Bunnies classroom at PDN. She also has a son named Evan, who will start public school in Arcadia in fall 2017. Carlene's family speaks French at home and they are thrilled that Louisa can learn and play in an English speaking environment where the teachers are so caring. Carlene graduated from an International Business school in France. She has worked in Europe and Africa, before relocating to the US. She currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst in a digital marketing agency with her husband Mani. Her family moved to Arcadia in 2016 from New York City and enjoys the California lifestyle.
